The Santakos Sodas ("Garden of Confluence" in English) Project is Completed
Between 2011 and 2013, Vasiliauskas, Page and Co successfully completed the new construction of a complex of four semi-detached houses at an area of Kaunas where the Nemunas and Neris rivers meet. The architecture of the houses is organically integrated into the historical context of the Marvelė district while enriching it with contemporary, modern forms with an exterior facade in an unusual shade for Kaunas. The roofs of the houses are distinguished by a spacious terrace equipped with unique views of the confluence of these two major Lithuanian rivers. The architect Rimantas Giedraitis designed the building. The Santakos Sodas project is notable for its use of energy efficiency solutions with state-of-the-art ventilation ductwork systems, innovative building materials, and versatile heating systems allowing the use of a wide variety of heating fuels from renewable sources.
